Fake covers (D&AD)

These are the basic idea for the covers. The composition is all wrong, but the parts are roughly what I will be doing.

This is what the hardback cover of the books will be like. They are gel transfers of montages of text from the relevant books.

These are the book jackets.

Uni Exhibition

Alex took a photo of my space at the uni exhibition (thank you).

It's nearly finished now.

Here's the photo of my space!

Paintings (D&AD)

I did some paintings as a part of my final covers.

Here's the scans as promised.

The A3 scanners were all being used or not working, so it's 2 A4 ones joined. If you ignore the white edges it works.

I think the cutlery and money needs to be darker to stand out on the newsprint backgrounds. I will edit these later.

Card layers (D&AD)

I'm getting things prepared to try and do some neater layering up.

Here's the things that I am working on at the moment.

Layers (D&AD)

I layered up using paper springs on tracing paper. I painted them and aim to transfer onto top of them very soon. I transferred pages from the appropriate books on to the backs of the tracing paper.

Snow

I was waiting for Jessop's to find my black and white film from snow days. I have it back now. Here are some from both a black and white film with a yellow filter and a colour film in my (my dad's but it's mine really) Nikon fully manual

And again (D&AD)

I sewed and cut out some Ivy for growing up for Kipps as an alternative to salmon.
I also tried a meteorite and a butterfly. They need more development though. Paints seem to work best as the under layer as on the fish, and the butterfly needs to look less like a moth.

More development (D&AD)

Finally got some fists to work

And made a few fish.

The idea now is to represent the 3 books as follows:

Ann Veronica - Fists of freedom pyramid, with a butterfly representing Ann flying free from them
Tono - Bungay - Money pyramid collapsing representing the collapse of his finances, possibly with meteorites representing the main character.
Kipps - Cutlrey pyramid representing the social classes with a Salmon leaping up it to represent Kipps.
