Print Is Dead

The aim of this uni project was to create a product that puts our illustrations into a new market.

I created computer icons which work on both Mac and Windows for the most widely used applications and folders. I chose to use animals as my theme and tried to link them to each application.

I used cardboard and oil pastel for the animals, and water colour for the backgrounds.

I have also created a website, with the aim of the website being to sell my animal icons as a down-loadable set, and to be able to download backgrounds for these animals to live in. This is just a shell of a website and at the moment the icons and backgrounds aren't downloadable. The colourings can however be printed using your browsers print option and the website can be fully viewed.

View it here:

Here are a few of the animals on bits of background:

And here are the icons working on both mac and windows:

That's all for now. Lino cut and etching growing and folding book of The Ant and the Chrysalis to follow soon.

Final Pieces

Here are my final images for 'The Road' as a set.

The flash was too bright so I went without which has made the image quality very poor.

Here they are individually..

And the huge book of development...

The Owl and The Pussycat

For the last project of first year illustration at Westminster University we had to Illustrate the nonsense poem by Edward Lear - The Owl and The Pussycat. Here are a few of the final images from my book!

Haroun and the Sea Of Stories

Here are some photos from a uni project where we were set a group project to create a set and characters etc for a stage show, with a choice of books. I chose to work on Haroun and the Sea Of Stories by Salman Rushdie and work on character design. Here are a few of the photos from my groups final piece.

The photography is pretty bad but you get the idea.

I designed and made the bird, the gardener (the green and brown bendy man), and the two fish (which are barely visible in any of these photos)

Editorial Projects

As a uni project we were given 2 articles to illustrate, with a week for each. These were my outcomes.
This image was for an article in World Of Interiors magazine called 'Good Eggs'. It described all the beauties of life and I created two designs.

This is my favorite design presented on the article as it would be if it was really in the magazine

The second article was from a magazine that comes with the Guardian on the weekends. It was a problem page article called 'Love by Numbers'. It described a broken relationship and the way the woman wanted to mend it while the man just wanted to walk away.

And this is the chosen design on the text again
